I have been working at API for 19 years now. I have my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from the College of DuPage. I teach 4 year olds on Monday - Friday mornings. Every year I take the CPR/First Aid class and earn 15 hours of Early Childhood in-service hours. I have so much fun working with 3 & 4 year olds. It is so amazing watching them grow and learn over the ye
I currently teach the four/five year olds on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings I work three year olds. I have an associates degree from Harper College and a B.S. degree in education from Winona State University. I continue to attend educational workshops and seminars that specialize in early childhood education. After working here for 16 years, I still love getting a new class each year and being able to watch them learn and grow.
I started teaching at Algonquin Preschool in 2001. I have been in the Early Childhood Education field for 20+ years (oh-oh, my age is showing!). My formal education has included courses at College of DuPage and Elgin Community College, as well as many conferences, seminars and classes in Early Childhood Education. While I consider this education invaluable, the most exciting education that I have received is from the many years of working with young children! There is nothing that can be compared to seeing a world through a child's eyes! I truly believe in the Algonquin Preschool, I am proud to be associated with Algonquin preschool and look forward to a long relationship with the staff, parents and the children here at the school.
After teaching Middle School for 10 years I decided to stay home to be with my two kids. My oldest started at Algonquin Preschool in 2018 after hearing great things about the program and teachers. My youngest and I both started in 2019! I started with the 4 year olds Monday, Wednesday and Friday and currently teach 3 and 4 year olds. I love watching the children learning through play and grow throughout the year. I continue to grow professionally by taking CPR/First Aid and 15 hours of in-service classes pertaining to Early Childhood. Algonquin Preschool helped my own children learn to love school and interact with peers and I am so happy to be a part of that as a teacher for the children in my classes.
